Health & Safety

We take the Health & Safety of our company very seriously, which is why we have our own stringent Health & Safety procedures backed up by becoming accredited to CHAS and SMAS, both of which carry out full annual audits.

We also employ an external Health & Safety advisor. The Building Safety Group act as our external source, not only to ensure we are kept up to date with all the HSE requirements but they also carry out weekly inspections on our sites to ensure we are following their advice.

At Horizon Roofing we value our staffs wellbeing and safety at work, which is why we insist all our Roofers are given the correct training to help them complete the job safely and to a high standard.
Each new employee, regardless of their current level of experience, is given a full induction on their first day to make them aware of all their H&S responsibilities to ensure they work in a safe manner.

Within the first 12 months we insist all our roofers complete the following courses:

● Working at Heights
● Manual Handling
● Small tools/Abrasive wheels
● Portable towers & Ladders
● 1 Day first Aid
● General safety awareness
● CSCS H&S Touch screen test

After the first 18 months we feel our roofers are ready to start their NVQ2 in Slating & Tiling which is done as an on site assessment and should be completed in 6 months.
Following on from this we encourage our roofers to complete their NVQ3 in Slating & Tiling making them fully skilled to tackle all jobs.

Talk box talks and staff meetings are held regularly to ensure everyone is kept up to date with H&S and any new products.
